Rounders At Your Kitchen Table

/2008-07-21/

After watching a movie, everyone has that tingling feeling of putting yourself in the character's shoes and do something like what happened in the movie, especially if it is what you can do. You tend to look around you and try noticing something different after watching a spy movie; you might step on your gas a little bit more on the way back home after watching a racing movie. Fortunately, those feelings go away and you return to your normal life cycle.

Don't worry, you are not the only one who feels like a movie star after a movie, so don't be shy. At one time of their lives, everyone wanted to become 007, a racer, and even a professional card player. Since we cannot be everything we want to be, we just have to be satisfied with the indirect experiences through the movie screens; all except playing cards. You can easily play cards with your friends at your kitchen table on Friday night after work, your chance to win like they do in the movies.

Everyone plays cards, and everyone wants to be a winner. Every time you play cards, you will get reminded of the big comeback from behind my Matt Damon in the last scene of The Rounders. You will even remember some of the greatest all-in moments from WSOP by many of the pro players such as Johnny chan. The face and the maneuvers pulled off beautifully by Matt Damon in The Rounders actually inspired many people to pursue in becoming professional card players. Hiding his straight hand from the flop with his words and his expressions to fool his opponent may have been the inspiration to many. I personally get reminded of that scene when I get a straight on the flop during Text hold'em and act just like he did in the movie.

The sensation of pulling off a right bluff is a factor and joy of playing cards but seeing through the opponent's bluff and weakness is another one. Matt Damon finding out the John Malkovich's tendency of messing with his Oreo during his big decision was the actual dagger in the back for the game. Whether it be pulling off that bluff or seeing through the weakness of your opponents or even your friends at the kitchen table to make them go all-in really brings out the joy in the game, your moment of fame and a story to tell at a dinner party.

Everyone has their own victory story of how they fooled their opponent. The sensation of fooling your opponent in a card game is really something. It is the biggest reason why people go back to playing cards; the chance at a big win and the big pot. Rather than just sitting there listening to it like you're watching movie, how about going out there and making one for yourself today? But remember to stand up when you are up, because someone who knows when to quit is the biggest winner when playing cards.
