Seven Stud Poker Second Betting Round

The low card is the first to act in the second betting round of seven stud poker games.



Explained here are some of “tells” based on the betting approached before you decide on how to decide in your second betting round. The second betting round in seven stud poker are also known as “Fourth Street” betting as the fourth card in this game is dealt before this betting round. Many middle hand players tend to spend some chips to see the fourth street.









Fast players in seven stud could have a very good hand (or) they are just trying to get as many players out of the game. You need to look in to the open cards of fast players in seven stud especially if your estimated opponents, see for such possibilities.

• If your opponent is a learned player in seven stud and has been betting big in first betting followed by raise and re-raise you need to doubt possibility of trips.

• A call, raise and re-raise by a player in seven stud can also mean that they can have some hidden big pair, they may be bluffing to see maximum players go out and also they make it costly for others to see the fourth card. If such a player is again going to raise in the second betting round, you need to use your best judgment as they would have a truly big hand.

• If your opponent was trying to deceive you with a big split pair in making the pot grow, you need to decide the real truth on such before you bet too big in seven stud in the second round.



Before making any big bet in the second round of seven stud you need to see if the new card for your major opponent has been in favor or against what you had judged about him.



However if you have been the one making the above said moves in the first round of seven stud and have been dealt with the lowest card in the second betting round you need to employ semi bluffs in having your pot grow, trying to have the maximum of players fold should be your motive in the second betting.



If you have been betting through the first round in seven stud with 3 cards to flush with 2 face cards you need to fold if you did not improve anywhere towards a flush or straight in the second betting round. The same logic applies if in the first round you had 3 cards to straight flush or 3 small cards to flush.



Despite all the playable cards, you need to fold if you did not improve in the second betting round!
