Texas Hold'em Online Poker, Is It Rigged? What About Collusion? Am I At Risk?

Listen, Online POKER is NOT rigged!!

I sit down at tables online and even in person everyday and there will always be someone sitting there that says online poker is rigged because of a terrible badbeat they took the night before.

Just think about it for a minute.

A poker room like Full Tilt for example has over 40,000 players online at almost any time of the day.

They are raking 10% of every tournament, cash game, ANYTHING.

Just ONE big tournament they have at night with 500 players everyone pays 4-6 dollars. That is 2000 dollars from 1 tournament. Honestly, I dont even want to ESTIMATE how much Full Tilt makes in an hour but I'd be safe to say they make probably 50-100k an hour. Do you think they would risk that to make you lose??

Every poker room uses whats called a RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR. Your cards are dealt RANDOMLY everytime. The reason that you think you see more bad beats online is because you SEE close to 3-4 times as many hands ONLINE then you do in person. This means are you are going to see AA vs KK more often online then you would ever see at a live game or in a casino.

Collusion, however is something that poker rooms have been battling for years. Let's say you sit and a friend that lives 30 minutes away sit down in a sit and go. You tell your friend over the phone every hand your dealt. This gives you and your friend a big advantage over any other person at the table.

I have been colluded against before, but it is just something that happens RARELY and the poker rooms are supposed to track it. If you feel like your being colluded, make sure you REPORT it right away. Poker rooms take this very seriously and will get you your money back and kick off the player.

To avoid collusion the best tournaments to play are multi-table. It is not possible for people to collude when a tournament starts with 50 or more players. It would be impossible for them to sit at the same table.

See you next time.

Good luck at the tables!
