The Many Faces Of Poker

/2008-07-21/

Poker comes in a number of styles that play on the rules just a bit according to the variation. There are a few very popular poker games that any player will want to know in order to feel comfortable at any poker table. These games include: texas holdem poker, Omaha, Omaha Hi/Lo, Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo, Five Card Stud, and Draw Poker. While this may seem overwhelming to take in at first, you need only to visit the Internet and look up some online poker sites to learn everything you need to know. But in the meanwhile, read on to get the basics.

First, Texas holdem poker is a poker game that is played with seven cards. While it is recommended for beginners, it is also complex and fast, which means it is a game for the most skilled players as well. The winning hand is the strongest made up of a combination of two of the player’s personal cards and three of the community cards. Next is Omaha Poker, which is a variation of Holdem, in which each player has nine cards to deal with, but at the end, the person with the strongest five-card hand is the winner.

Seven Card Stud is another recommended game for those learning how to play poker that will also keep the more advanced players interested. In this variation each player receives one card face up and two cards face down. The player with the “low card” face up makes the first bet. Then each player must call, raise or fold, after which each player receives three cards face up, which signals the beginning of another round of betting. When the last card is dealt to each player, it is done so face down. This is the last betting round as well. After which, the cards are revealed and the person with the highest hand takes the pot.

Clearly these are simplified explanations on games that have captivated millions and for some, serve as the livelihood that pays the rent! Thus, in order to receive more detailed information that can teach you to play poker, it is worthwhile checking out a variety of websites online. The Internet is a fantastic poker resource because not all sites require that you participate in poker gambling. In fact, many online poker venues offer a free package to newcomers, that include poker software, downloads and other ways to play free poker.

Conveniently, online poker benefits not only poker novices but also experts. Most poker sites offer games and tournaments every hour of the day and every day of the week. Due to the fact that there are casino poker players from all over the world spending time on some of these sites, there is never a lack of tables that a player can opt to join. Finding out how to play all kinds of poker variations has never been as easy as it is today with the countless poker websites that are user-friendly for all levels of players.
