Steve Zolotow plays online at Full Tilt Poker.
Steve has been a game player his whole life. He's been playing poker as long as he can remember. Initially, Steve wanted to be an actor, but couldn't support himself in the craft. Since he didn't want to drive a cab or tend bar, he made the only logical choice and became a gambler.
Although Steve's primary interest was backgammon from '65 to '80 and then sports betting from '80 to '95, he's always played poker regularly. In the mid-90's, Steve switched his main emphasis to poker. Initially, he concentrated on cash games, but lately, he's been focusing more on tournaments.
Because Steve started as a cash-game player, he developed a solid, disciplined playing style. In tournaments, this style has resulted in a lot of money finishes, but unfortunately few wins. Steve has cashed 30 times in World Series of Poker events, and has earned two WSOP bracelets. In addition, he's cashed in six World Poker Tour tournaments, including two final table appearances. Recently, he finished third in the televised "FullTiltPoker.Net Global Poker Challenge."
Steve loves to travel, and has won tournaments in Australia, France, and Tunica, and cashed in London, Ireland, California, and Atlantic City. He also loves to read and write about poker. When he's not too lazy, he writes for Card Player Magazine.
His academic background (BS in Statistics, MBA in Finance) led Steve to a somewhat intellectual approach to games. He plays all varieties of poker well, and is somewhat disappointed to see No-Limit Hold 'em dominate all other games.
Steve also loves to talk about poker. While living in New York, he was part of the Mayfair No-Limit Hold 'em group that included Howard Lederer, Erik Siedel, Dan Harrington, Jay Heimowitz, and some other very strong players who are not as well known. After a session, they often discussed poker in neighborhood bars until closing. These discussions resulted in a vast improvement in the quality of their play.
While Steve now lives in Las Vegas and travels a lot, he frequently returns to Manhattan. He still loves to discuss poker and play a little pool in some neighborhood bars. In fact, he likes it so much, that he became a partner in some his favorite hangouts. Steve can be found on Avenue A in New York City (Nice Guy Eddie's, Doc Holliday's, The Library, or Julep) or near-by on Houston Street (Vasmay Lounge.) If anyone is interested in poker discussions, Steve will be more than happy to talk with you over a drink the next time he's back east.
